What
do people do?
People
celebrate Christmas Day in many ways. In the days or even weeks before
Christmas Day, many people decorate their homes and gardens with lights,
Christmas trees and much more. It is common to organize a special meal, often
consisting of turkey and a lot of other festive foods, for family or friends
and exchange gifts with them. Children, in particular, often receive a lot of
gifts from their parents and other relatives and the mythical figure Santa
Claus. This has led to Christmas Day becoming an increasingly commercialized
holiday, with a lot of families spending a large part of their income on gifts
and food.
Many
Sunday schools, churches and communities organize special events. These can
include decorating the neighborhood or a shopping mall, putting up a Christmas
tree and planning a Nativity display, concert or performance. A lot of plays
and songs have a aspect of Christmas as a theme. Some groups arrange meals,
shelter or charitable projects for people without a home or with very little
money.
Public
life
Government
offices, organizations, businesses and schools are closed, almost without
exception. Many people visit relatives or friends and are out of town. This may
cause congestion on highways and at airports. Public transit systems do not run
on their regular schedules. In general, public life closes down completely.
Background
The
original meaning of Christmas is a special church service, or mass, to
celebrate the birth of Christ. The story of the Nativity, or the events
surrounding the birth of Jesus, are particularly important in religious
celebrations of Christmas. However, many traditions that are around today have
their roots in pre-Christian winter festivals. These include the importance of
candles and decorations made from evergreen bushes and tree, symbolizing
everlasting light and life.
In
Roman times, a mid-winter festival was held. This was a relaxing time with a
lot of parties and merry making. It was also common to give other people small
gifts, such as dolls for children and candles for adults. This festival
culminated with the celebration of the winter solstice, which fell on December
25 in the Roman calendar. In Scandinavia, a festival called Yule and lasting up
to twelve days was held in late December and early January. In this time people
burnt logs and held parties. These customs have influences how Christmas Day is
celebrated today in the United States.
The
Bible does not give a precise date for the birth of Jesus. It is also unclear
when December 25 became associated with the birth of Jesus, although it may
have been around two hundred years after his birth. In the early centuries of
Christianity, the anniversary of the birth of Jesus was not a cause for
celebrations. The idea of turning this day into a celebration started in the
early Middle Ages in Europe.
During
Reformation and up until the middle of the 1800s, Christmas was often not
celebrated because partying and merry making was seen as unchristian. From
about 1840, celebrating Christmas became more widespread. December 25 was
declared a federal holiday in the United States in 1870. Since then Christmas
Day has become a steadily more important holiday.
Symbols
A wide
range of people and objects represent Christmas. These include baby Jesus, the
Nativity and the Three Kings, but also Santa Claus, reindeer and elves. Common
objects at this time of year are pine trees, holly, decorations, fairy lights,
candles and presents. Christmas Day is now truly a mix of religious celebration
and commercial interests.
SHARING IDEAS
The
world is ruled by ideas. Ideas made real.
The internet was once just an idea.
The engine was once just an idea.
Democracy was once just an idea.
Kinda makes
you think.. what's next?
I
think about economics.. a lot. When you're thinking about what to eat for
dinner, I'm thinking about economics. When you're playing angry birds, I'm
studying economics.
Economics
is what allows you to be who you are.
Choose
a good economic system and you have a world of athletes, chefs, teachers, and
doctors - you have variety, you have adventure, you have abundance. Choose
poorly and you will have scarcity, conflict, and despair. Economics affects
everyone on earth, at every moment of every day.
It is much
easier said than done to be successful. Each of us spends our lives striving
for our goals and trying to climb that last mountain. Success is never easily
accomplished and takes lots of time and faith. However with these tips that I
have learned throughout my life, it can be achieved more easily. And, I am
giving them to you for free.
1. Know what
you want. The most important part of being successful is knowing what you want.
What are you going to work at if you have no goals? Write your goals down and
hang them next to your bed so you can see them each day.
2. Take Risks.
All people that are successful have made risks that have paid off, and with
careful analysis you can too. Big risks equal big rewards however not all risks
will pay off. Do not be reckless and be confident in where you investing your
time and your effort.
3. Never give
you. Persistence is one of the keys to success. The whole journey will not be
easy and remember that. Hard work pays off and you get what you put in. If your
first crack at something leaves you short of your expectations, look at it from
another perspective.
4. Know who is
on your team. Everyone in life has their own agenda or their goals. Your
success will cause mixed feelings between people. Know who endorses you and
wants you to succeed. Know who will not be jealous of your success and will
help you when you need it. These are the people on your team. The others, there
are your opponents. Go to your teammates in time of glory and in times of
hardship, not your opponents.
5. Confidence.
Simple, Confidence is the key to success. Having a sense of self worth and
knowing that you will succeed will give you a totally different attitude about
life. However, do not be overconfident or arrogant. It's good to confidence but
never too much.
6. Understand
your weaknesses. Everyone has them so do not feel bad. However the ones that
are successful are the ones that are able to make their weaknesses their
strongest points. Put time and effort into making your weaknesses your
strengths.
7. Copy good
ideas from others. When you see something that someone is doing well, copy it.
Consider a football team, when they see a formation or a play that they think
will be effective, they add it to their arsenal. You can do that as well but
copying what other successful people are doing.
A final word of
advice is to always have patience. Success will never happen overnight.
Remember what you are working towards and when times get tough, remember you
goal that you are trying to reach.

In
recently news there are a lot of social problem among higher institution in
Malaysia. The most serious social problem was baby dumping. Local universities
need to conduct comprehensive studies on rampant baby dumping in the country
with a view to check the problem, said the prime minister's wife Datin Seri
Rosmah Mansor.
"If
we know why this problem happens, then we'll be in a better position to take
appropriate measures to overcome the problem," she said of the increasing
number of baby dumping cases.
The
reporter was speaking to reporters after talking over the phone with 1Malaysia

their developments and movements and not leave the responsibility to the school
authorities alone.

need to be taught from small. That is why I set up Permata Negara to inculcate
noble values among children from small. If they have problems, they can voice
their feelings to their teachers or counsellors."
She
said with a happy home and school environment, there was no reason for children
to seek joy outside including taking drugs and looking for boyfriends.
"Learning
should be made fun for them, must make them happy. Don't make them so miserable
or give them so much stress."
